Transline India Business Solutions bagged the Gold Channels Excellence Award
for 'Best Deployment' for networking several schools in Rajasthan. The ambitious
project not only helped the company create a mark for itself, but also proved as
a turning point for the company. Post-implementation, Transline has been deputed
by many clients to deploy various projects in the region as well.
Transline was faced with the challenge of networking 1,131 schools with HP
PCs & servers, Epson printers and Wi-Fi projectors, as well as configuring LAN
set-up in Rajasthan. In addition, the company had to install Linux operating
system in the PCs.
There were many reasons why the company bagged the award. In the first place,
the company was faced with the challenge of delivering, installing and
implementing the entire project in
10 days. This was difficult as many of the products that were to be delivered at
the various schools did not reach Transline within the stipulated time frame.
Additionally, the project which was valued at above $7 million had to be
delivered remotely. A team of about 150 members was put in place for the same
and these members were assigned the task of putting the entire networking
framework including that of deploying the Wi-Fi system, printers, projectors and
servers within the premises of all the schools.
The fact that Transline had never before deployed a similar project was yet
another reason why it won the Best Deployment Award. It has been delivering
enterprise solutions, including hardware solutions, networking solutions,
security, storage, IT consultancy, software solutions and IT support services
like facility management service to its customers. It was because of this
expertise and core competencies, that Transline bagged this award winning
project.
However, the biggest hurdle that lay ahead of Transline was delivering the
products, which included over 12,000 PCs among other equipments at the various
school premises, which were spread all over the state of Rajasthan. What
compounded the matter was that there was no proper transportation facility that
could have ensured smooth and on-time delivery of the products.
Thus, the project leader had to visit Jaipur and other cities in Rajasthan a
number of times in advance to get a feel of the situation within the region.
This was followed by co-operation and dedicated efforts of all the other members
who ensured deployment remotely.
“There were numerous problems that cropped up while we were trying to ensure
the smooth implementation of the project. In the first place we were expected to
deliver within 10 days, which in itself was a massive task since over 1,000
schools were required to be networked. In addition there were several schools
where even a telephone line was not available, hence putting the LAN/WAN set up
was proving to be a herculean task,” mentioned Arun Gupta, Director, Transline
India Business Solutions.
However, efforts from the team at Transline benefited the schools massively.
None of the students had ever used the PC or Internet before and the ambitious
project extended the services to many underprivileged children. So the award
apart, this is another reason why Gupta is well pleased about this project.
