Seagate delivers low cost solutions

Seagate Technology announced the launch of its latest hard drives Savvio 10K.2 and Barracuda ES, which are uniquely optimized for a variety of storage requirements in the enterprise.

Savvio 10K.2 is Seagate's second-generation 2.5” enterprise class disc drive and delivers high I/O transaction performance with world-record 1.6 million hours MTBF reliability and up to 146GB capacity. With ultra-low power consumption that has dropped an average of 15 percent over its prior generation, and a size that is 70 percent smaller than conventional 3.5” drives, the Savvio 10K.2 makes possible the integration of more drives into smaller chassis sizes.

The Savvio 10K.2 provides added performance enabled by perpendicular recording – all with the world's best reliability rating at 1.6 million hours MTBF.

The Barracuda ES combines the highest capacity available with enterprise features demanded in multi-drive capacity-intensive configurations.

The 7200-RPM Barracuda ES delivers increased reliability and features Rotational Vibration Feed Forward (RVFF) technology to sustain performance when placed in closely packed multi-drive system environments.

The Barracuda ES is offered in a 3Gb Serial ATA (SATA) version that includes Native Command Queuing (NCQ) and 8/16MB cache. With best-in-class storage density using perpendicular recording technology, the Barracuda ES is offered in capacities of 250, 400, 500, and 750GB. The Barracuda ES is also available in a 2GB FC version in capacities of 400GB and 500GB.
