New Delhi: During it's 26th annual session, Manufacturers' Association for Information Technology (MAIT) announced a change of guards.

Ravi Aggarwal, President-Imaging & Printing Group, HP, India is now also the newly appointed President of MAIT for the term 2009-10. Sandeep Nair, MD-Emerson Network Power, India will take over as VP for the coming term.

Vinnie Mehta, Executive Director, MAIT credited both Aggarwal and Nair for their dedicated contribution to the development of the IT market in India. Commenting about these appointments, Mehta said, “We are pleased to have Ravi Aggarwal on board as the President of MAIT. An industry veteran, with in-depth exposure to various aspects of the IT industry, he is immensely respected in the industry circles for his incisive vision and astute knowledge. We are also delighted to have Sandeep Nair as VP. With their vast experience, they would add immense value towards augmenting and furthering the IT industry eco-system in the country.”

Pleased with the appointment, Aggarwal said it is an honor to head MAIT at a juncture when the industry is about to reach its point of inflection. With a vision in mind, he said, “Creativity, innovation and collaboration would help put us on a faster growth trajectory. The domestic market is vastly unexplored and we need to come up with innovative solutions to deepen the IT penetration beyond the urban masses.” He also looks forward to the contemporary challenge of creating a robust IT infrastructure across the dimensions of the nation to enable easy information access for the common masses.

Likewise, Nair remarked, “I am grateful to the industry for reposing faith in me. For India to emerge globally competitive in the hardware arena, apart from creating a vibrant domestic market we need to create a stable policy regime. A robust and encouraging ecosystem covering all aspects of the downstream industry will enable us emerge as a strong IT manufacturing nation.”
