Gurgaon: At an event held in Gurgaon, Cyber Intelligent Security (CIS) and KK Software announced the launch of Vipre anti-virus in India. Around 80 partners from Delhi/NCR were invited to attend the event. A few weeks back, CIS, the exclusive national distributor of Vipre in India announced the appointment of KK Software as the national distributor for single-user and North distributor for five users. No details were shared on who had been appointed for the remaining three regions.
During the launch, the distributors took the opportunity to jointly announce a scheme for their partners. Giving details about the scheme, KK Jha of KK Software said, “Partners who buy 500 units of Vipre anti-virus will get an assured trip to Dubai and 50 units free.”
If the sales of the anti-virus is anything to go by, it seems that the brand has been well received in the market. In the short period since the launch, Jha informed that they had already sold out 10,000 units with a whole lot of more demands coming in. The scheme is on till Nov 15, 2009.
Throwing light on how they see the India market, Mukund Kapur, Sales Director, CIS said, “We have bullish plans for India. With our range of 140 security products, we are going to play big in this arena.” He added that the response to Vipre had been overwhelming so far. “We know the product is good and it suits the India market. The advantage of dealing with us is that we have a footprint in 72 countries. So we are offering the best from around the globe to Indian consumers,” stated Kapur.
Talking about the success of the software, Jha claimed, “Vipre uses minimum time to install and scan a PC. Technologically it is two years ahead of its competitors. It is the only anti-virus software that has a comparison chart on the box, so there is a lot of transparency. There is also the cost factor. While the single user is available for Rs 200-250, the five-user is available for Rs 800-1,000 in the channel market.”
Jha pointed out that currently there are a number a people who were buying fake or pirated software for around Rs 200. With the launch of a genuine product in the same price range they were looking at encouraging consumers to make the right decision, and thus combat piracy.
In an ambitious plan, KK Software and CIS are also thinking of taking their partnership a step further towards training important bodies in India. Sharing details, Jha explained, “We are planning to approach Delhi Police, CBI and even RAW, and train their personnel on security products in a bid to upgrade them.” CIS has a number of security training courses called 'Mile2' that are available on their site.
Through the partnership, CIS will leverage KK Software's channel network of around 4,000 partners, with 2,500 in North. KK Software nine branches across India and plans are on to open offices in Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar and Guwahati. Page(s) 1
