Trade Association of Information Technology (TAIT) has released its services
rate charts for 2008-09. The chart will serve as a guideline for service
providers and end-customers.
The fourth edition of rate chart it is also available for download at www.tait-mumbai.com.
The association will be sending the services rate chart to over 5,000 IT
companies in Mumbai and surrounding regions. “It is also available online. Its
success and popularity is evident from the fact that many associations emulate
our rate charts,” said Chetan Shah, Director, TAIT.
Further explaining the motive behind releasing the chart Shah said, “Few
years ago, a huge gap used to exit among the rates that each vendor charged from
the customers. That apart many SIs were not even aware about what rates they
could charge for services offered. Smaller players were not charging for
services like onsite installation, etc. TAIT wanted to bring uniformity in the
service rates charged by IT companies in Mumbai from their customers. Thus, we
release services rate charts regularly to help partners in Mumbai.”
Agreeing with him Umang Mehta, Spokesperson, TAIT said that he believed
that the rate chart by TAIT helps in setting a standard for service charges
across SIs and assemblers. “The chart will give the customer a clear idea as
to what should be paid for different services,” he added.
Giving a brief about the changes that has been made in these charts from
previous years, CW Kadwadkar, Executive Secretary, TAIT said, “This year, we
have added many new categories and heads to make it more comprehensive and
updated. Most rates have been updated to reflect the current costs. TAIT rate
charts are used by the entire industry as a benchmark for pricing their service
offerings.”
As per TAIT, the rate charts helps partners in offering services and
solutions to customers. “These rate charts should be used by sales and service
teams of the vendors to validate their own rates in front of customers, thereby
giving them the confidence that India's leading trade association has endorsed
these rates,” added Kadwadkar.
“The rates are derived after consulting various SIs in Mumbai and are
applicable across Mumbai, considering the infrastructure and manpower cost.
Other associations can always reduce or readjust it as per the cost prevailing
in their respective cities,” Mehta added. Page(s) 1
