Guwahati based the North Eastern Computer Traders Association is all set to
host their first ever IT exhibition in the city. Managed by ART Group the three
day long event will commence from February 1 and will continue till February 3
at Nehru Stadium in Guwahati. Named as 'IT North East' the exhibition is being
touted by the association as a grand affair, which will render ample
opportunities to the buyers.
Commenting on the show Pawan Agarwalla, President, NECTA said, "The
North-East is one of the rapidly growing markets for IT. Unfortunately the
industry experts neglect it. Even the local buyers mostly travel to other parts
of the country for their IT requirement despite having all the items available
in North-East due to the lack of proper knowledge."
Justifying the importance of such a show he added, "This exhibition will
essentially help everyone related to IT enhance his or her knowledge and create
awareness about the local market." Agarwalla also feels that by organizing
this show NECTA will not only be successful in creating end user awareness but
dealer awareness as well and also attract the vendor companies to increase their
activities in the region. "For the betterment of the IT industry in North
East and to introduce the prospective buyers to the sellers and vice versa on a
single platform the idea of this exclusive IT exhibition has emerged," he
explained.
Meanwhile NECTA has successfully roped in Logitech as the main sponsor for IT
North East. While Canon and Lenovo has been signed in as co-sponsors Compaq has
been roped in as the associate sponsor. The DQ Week is the official IT media
partner of the expo. "While expecting a strong support from the entire
dealer network of North-East, we are keen to attract more OEM attention towards
this expo," stated Agarwalla according to whom lack of proper OEM support
the IT business in North-East is suffering and is unable to grow as per its
potential. With estimated visitors of about 500 resellers across North-East
India NECTA is looking forward to a large participation from various end user
segments including, corporate, home users, government, schools and colleges.
"We are expecting a footfall of over 10000 people during the exhibition
from all across the region," he informed.
NECTA is also planning to organize various events and activities within the
exhibition like quizzes, seminars and gaming competition. The association will
also conduct an award function during the period. "We are making best
efforts to make the event an ideal platform for all participants to market their
products and help partners to get optimum mileage out of this show," said
Agarwalla. Page(s) 1
