Trend Micro has begun shipping Trend Internet Security 2007 for consumers in India. The corporate version is expected to be available in the next fortnight. While the consumer version is priced Rs 2,000, the pricing of the corporate version will be based on the type of license.

"Web-traffic-borne menaces are creating an all-time high concern among organizations. As per Trendlabs, there has been a 270 percent growth in web threats from Q1 2006 to Q1 2007," said Niraj Kaushik, Country Manager - India and SAARC, Trend Micro.

He further added, "We have realized that the Net has become an integral part of the threat landscape in the past few years. Over the last 12 months, our data center has been able to create a database of 500 million plus domains rating them as good and bad."

Web Reputation, the USP of the latest Trend Internet Security 2007, is a concept that works on four levels complementing each other. In the first level the carrier is rated, then the content is scanned followed by monitoring of the network behavior, and last but not the least, provides end security.

"Once the software is installed on a PC, the moment one happens to access an infected website, a window pops up giving warning and asking to shut down the web browser," informed Kaushik.

As far as the go-to-market strategy of the new product is concerned, Trend Micro has in place about 30 tier one partners that include the likes of HCL Technology, Wipro and Sify. Another 400 tier two partners, spread across the country, would cater to the consumer segment. Trend Micro will shortly be conducting a six-city road show in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Pune to educate end users about the new launch.
