Vanguard Networks, a leading provider of advanced multi-service protocol gateway and IP routing solutions, announces a new midrange enterprise access router product line, the 6840 and 6841 Multimedia Gateway Routers.

Optimized for high-speed voice and data network services, the new Vanguard routers are designed to provide reliable, secure, broadband access for the expanding voice, video and IP data applications of enterprise branch offices, retail and financial offices requiring Quality of Service (QoS) features and a low total cost of ownership.

The Vanguard 6840 Multimedia Gateway Router delivers one of the industry's richest suites of networking protocols, integrated security, firewall, and encryption functions, support for serial traffic such as SNA and bisync, and a modular dual-core architecture that provides the high packet processing performance and QoS needed for simultaneous applications. The 6841 model adds hardware-accelerated AES and 3DES encryption processing to the functions of the 6840.

“Businesses today demand better performance, reliability, security, and a lower cost of ownership for converged voice and data network access,” notes Rudi Willems, President, Vanguard Networks. “The 6840 series addresses all those key concerns, while also accommodating the many legacy environments still in place in the retail, banking, and other industries. Just as importantly, it allows customers a direct migration path to future growth while lowering current network costs.”

The Vanguard Networks 6840 Series multimedia gateway routers are available through its network of authorized resellers worldwide. Pricing begins at $3,395, depending on configuration chosen.
