Blue Coat, globally reckoned name in providing secured Web communications across the distributed enterprise showcased MACH5 Technology their latest offering for the Indian market in the Convergence India 2007. Rajendra Shah, CEO, Virtual NetComm (VNPL) their national distributor was also there helping the principal.

Niraj Dogra, the new Country Sales Manager present there was very excited about the Indian market and the way VNPL has positioned them in the last seven years of their association. He said, “India is a country full of opportunities. A lot has to be explored and so in consultation with our partner VNPL, Blue Coat established its fully owned subsidy in India.”

Speaking about the new technology MACH5 Leigh Costin, Product Marketing Manager-APAC, Blue Coat Systems said, “MACH5 encompasses five acceleration techniques that work in tandem – Bandwidth Management, Protocol Optimization, Object Caching and Compression. It enables organizations to accelerate delivery of all productivity applications like email/exchange, web applications, video and secure web to users in branch and remote offices.”

“Starting our India operations does not mean that we are going to do the direct sales. We will continue with our global policy of 'Do Direct Marketing but No Direct sales',” quipped Costin.

Sharing companys' plans about the distribution, Dogra said, “Based out of Ahmedabad, our distributor VNPL has sales and support operations in Bangalore, Mumbai and New Delhi also. It currently has 11 partners with 3D Networks, Apara Enterprises, Datacraft, IT Secure, Ramco and Wipro as their major national partners. The remaining five act as their regional partners.

He further informed, "We are in talks with few partners currently and within a months time we would be able to add few more partners to our existing list of 11 members." The new partners who will get added will be either national or regional level partners and not the box pushers but those who perform the role of solution providers.

Blue Coat had recently appointed a sales support at Bangalore. As far as plans for Blue Coats internal team are concerned, the company plans to appoint one sales and one technical person each at Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai in the next couple of months. Since, people have become more security conscious, Blue Coat is confident of carving a niche in the market very soon.
