Accenture announced the setting up of its Innovation Center for
Service-oriented Architecture (SoA) and identity management based on Sun
Microsystems' solutions. Speaking at a press briefing here today, Alastair
MacWilson, MD, Global Security Practice, Accenture, said, “Customers are
opting for SoA since the traditional way of building applications is getting
tough. Given the pipeline of projects for SoA, the team in Bangalore would help
in building industry-specific solutions.”
This is the first innovation center started by Accenture, focused on Sun
technology.
The center currently has a team of hundred engineers. “We are active in
more than 20 client projects involving Sun SoA. We intend to provide tailored
solutions for different verticals such as telecom, government and financial
services,” said MacWilson.
The employees at the Accenture Innovation Center for Sun Microsystems
Solutions would include engineers from Sun and Accenture.
As part of this relationship, the Sun Software academy will also train and
mentor Accenture architects on the latest offerings SoA and Identity management
SoA is a focus area for Accenture and has invested $450 million in R&D,
training and building of industry-based solutions in the SoA space.
Don Grantham, Executive VP, Global Sales and Services, Sun Microsystems, said
that the center would be involved in design, building and deployment of
solutions. He added that Bangalore was chosen as the location for the center
