MUMBAI
MARCH 27, 2007

Global designer, manufacturer, and supplier of communications equipment, services and systems, Andrew Corporation, has opened its second manufacturing plant in the country at Goa. This is its second plant in the same city, the first being set up almost 10 years ago. The company also claims that it is the first company to set up a cable and antenna manufacturing plant in India.

The new facility also hosts a staffed service and repair depot for Andrew's RF repeater products. The custom-built 19,400 square meter facility in Goa will roll out products for OEMs and network operators.

"Our new Goa facility will deliver tangible benefits to our customers that will accelerate network deployment, reduce unnecessary costs, and improve quality," said Navin Vohra, Country Manager and Director, South Asia Operations, Andrew Corporation.

The company today has sales offices in Delhi and Mumbai besides its manufacturing facilities. With the new plant, Andrew Corporation has become the first manufacturer of both radio frequency cables and antennas in India. It has three other plants in Asia at Suzhou, Shenzhen and Yantai in China.

Elaborating why Goa was chosen as a location for its second plant as well Vohra said, "Goa acts as a good port, so it becomes easy to import and export our heavy goods. There is ample of qualified manpower available relevant to our industry. Plus there are tax benefits that makes Goa an ideal manufacturing hub for cable and antenna vendors like us."

Andrew customers include wireless operators, OEMs, distributors, integrators, broadband providers, value added resellers and installers. "We either do sales directly to the operators or through OEMs," informed Vohra.

The company claims to have about 70 percent market share in the cable segment and over 50 percent share in the antenna sector. "We will definitely try to increase our market share in India and our manufacturing expansions will steer the growth, he said.
