NEW DELHI
MARCH 23, 2007
To drive its growth in India, Plustek Inc, an imaging and communications
company, has appointed Ankur Sarkar as its new country manager. And with ths
appointment, it will also mark its entry into the government segment for its
document scanners.
Elaborating on the roadmap for the year 2007 Sarkar said, "My main focus
this fiscal will be to firstly develop and position the channel network.” This
will include appointing of few national distributors followed by four regional
distributors and few Tier–I partners for the volume segment. So far, Plustek
was doing business through its exclusive national distributor – Telexcel.
But as it makes a foray into the enterprise segment, Sarkar plans to tie-up
with some more national system integrators, who will be referred as strategic
solution partners by Plustek. The company also plans to appoint authorized
service provider, one in each metro for the volume segment.
Plustek's offering is broadly categorized into Volume and Enterprise
business. In India the company offers around 10 models in enterprise and four in
volume categories. The company aims for a $4 million turnover by the end of FY
2007. And, for this kind of growth the company felt a dire need to have its own
brand head in India.
As of now the company just has Sarkar on board. Once the channel is
established across the country, Sarkar, will start expanding his internal team
to support him. In addition to channel development, he will be in charge for
developing the business for Plustek in India through effective sales and
marketing. When asked about the positioning of their standalones vis-à-vis the
multi functional devices, Sarkar said that they are not fighting with the MFD
vendors but are trying to position themselves in the document scanner market.
Sarkar carrying approximately 14 years of experience in IT business is very
positive about his move since in the last assignment he was taking care of the
IT products at Fujisan Technologies as a regional head for Kolkata. Page(s) 1
