Sony will launch PlayStation 3 (PS3) in India on April 27, 2007 as part of
its launch across the PAL territories of the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and
Australasia. Responding to regional retail and consumer demand, Sony will offer
the 60GB model that will be priced at Rs 39,990.
PS3 is the most advanced computer system that serves as a platform to enjoy
next generation computer entertainment contents in the home, realized through
the combination of Cell and RSX processors, a wireless controller, a Blu-ray
high-quality video disc, in addition to the playability of a vast catalogue of
PlayStation and PlayStation 2 software titles.
Equipped with a high-definition display, buying a PS3 also gives owners free
access to the online PlayStation Network where they can meet and take on other
gamers. Having Giga-bit Ethernet and a pre-installed hard disk drive (HDD) as
standard in PS3, users will be able to download a variety of contents as well as
access on-line games and services over the network.
An exceptional range of titles from every genre will also be available from
the world's leading third party publishers including Electronic Arts, Namco
Bandai and Sony Online Entertainment. Priced at Rs 2,799 per game, these
software will be distributed by Milestone Interactive Software Limited. The
stellar line-up of over 12 game titles includes the critically acclaimed
Resistance: Fall of Man, MotorStorm, Genji, Days of the Blade, Formula 1:
Championship Edition and Ridge Racer 7. Other game titles include Def Jam: Icon,
Fight Night Round 3, NBA Street HomeCourt, Need for Speed Carbon, The Godfather:
