CHENNAI
FEBRUARY 23, 2007
Barely five months since the launch of its first `Archis' brand of retail
store in the city, Chennai-based system integrator (SI) Mukesh Infoserve has
taken another leading step by going to technology hub Sriperumbudur, a
fast-growing suburb near Chennai. The company today opened its office-cum-retail
store in Sriperumbudur, which is located directly opposite to Nokia factory on
the national highway. Mukesh Infoserve's move has already attracted the
attention of city resellers, while some promptly made it for the inaugural
function.
"We thought getting into Sriperumbdur would be the right move for our
expansion program, since this zone attracts an investment of $5 billion. The
presence of global leaders like Nokia, Dell, Hyundai, Flextronics and Saint
Gobain, among others, here, make this zone a vibrant market for IT. We have also
opened a retail store (Archis) here to attract the prospective consumers working
in these global organizations," said B Mukund, Director, Mukesh Infoserve.
Mukesh is taking a three-pronged strategy to tap the business potential in
and around this satellite town of Sriperumbudur. The company will target
primarily the corporate customers located in the region, while working out
strategies for end-customers to improve its retail business. "Third and
another important opportunity is the upcountry market. Sriperumbudur is very
close to places like Vellore, Ambur, Ranipet and Vaniambadi, among others, which
have lots of SMB market potential. We will try to create an impact in all the
areas," he mentioned.
Mukesh will carry wide range of products with it which include desktops and
laptops, from various leading brands, besides mobile devices, handheld products,
wireless solutions, bluetooth devices, headsets, mics, speakers, TFT monitors,
projectors, IT gadgets and other accessories. Archis would display products from
brands like HP, Microsoft, Samsung, Sony, NetGear and APC, to name a few.
"We are key partner for HP," Mukund added.
Mukesh Infoserve opened its first retail store in Ascenda IT Park, September
last. And, the company wants to open a chain of retail stores-under the brand `Archis',
across the city. "We have many announcements (projects) in the
pipeline," he quipped.
Talking about competition, with the entry of large-format retail stores like
Big Bazaar, Reliance, Tata, Bharti-Walmart and others, Mukund said,
"Service and support are very important factors in IT business and regional
players (resellers) will have a say in the market, as they work closely with the
end-customers." Page(s) 1
