Oracle is eyeing the SMB and retail segment of India and will be launching an
ERP solution for this segment by March 20, 2007. It also plans to expand its
channel base in the country.
Said Mark Gibbs, Senior VP, Oracle, "India is a huge market with big
potential. SMB and retail are fastest growing segments that pose a big
opportunity. Hence we would be coming up with specific strategies to tap them
well."
He further said that to move ahead with this focus, it is very essential to
expand the size of Oracle PartnerNetwork, a network of more than 400 channel and
alliance partners of Oracle in India. To tap the Indian market, Oracle is
specifically aiming to train the channel partners with a right approach in order
to categorize the market as per the demand and meet them systematically.
While speaking on the base of selecting partners, Gibbs said, "Oracle
goes through a well planned phase for selecting new partners. We first
understand the specific requirement of regions like Delhi, Chennai or Kolkata
and then categorize our partners accordingly. The partners are then trained as
per the nature of customers so that market demand is successfully met."
Oracle has recently introduced new versions of its five product lines of
Oracle E-business Suite Release 12, Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise Release 9.0,
Siebel CRM 8.0, JD Edwards EnterprisesOne 8.12 and JD Edwards World A9.1. With
the introduction of new versions, Oracle is planning to move with the strategies
for the better marketing of products. Page(s) 1
