APC has launched a series of new notebook and mobility solutions to ensure
availability for professionals on the move. Included in this range are power
ready notebook cases; universal notebook batteries; biometric password managers;
notebook stands; travel power adapters; portable power inverters; availability
products and surge protection products.
Giving details of the same, Pankaj Sharma, Country General Manager, APC India
said, "While designing these solutions, we had in mind the professionals
who needed access to power where ever and when ever they need it. This includes
all computer users, especially the mobile professionals. We had additionally
ensured that these solutions offered security from unwanted access to password
protected computer applications while on the move, as also protection from
hardware accidents/damage and power related disturbances. Most of these
solutions are therefore light in weight and compatible to varying voltage ranges
as well as devise types."
In order to take these products to market, APC would adopt a two-fold market
strategy. One would target the channel while the other would target the
consumer.
As part of the channel enablement, APC would enable partners to sell the
solutions by providing them with ample marketing support while ensuring the
availability of the wide product portfolio to all of them. "We would bank
on the retail outlets for distribution of these solutions and ensure our
presence in varied retail outlets like consumer electronics stores, large format
stores as well as IT stores. We would categorize our retail outlets as under
platinum, gold and based on certain parameters of location, footfalls, store
frontage and place dedicated APC retail sales associates at select outlets to
help customers with product demonstration. We are hoping to make the product
available across all major retail outlets by end of 2007," Pankaj said.
As far as market support is concerned, APC would make available kiosks at
relevant consumer touch points like consumer electronic stores and airports
besides point of sale displays like tent cards, streamers and posters.
"Channel partners would also be given easy-to-use demo kits to demonstrate
the features to customers at the retail stores along with store level
merchandising to showcase the products available. Additionally APC would bring
in quarterly channel schemes for partners dealing with these solutions in order
to help the channel sell better," he added.
As far as customers are concerned, APC would work to create awareness,
product visibility and ensure product availability at the right price. "To
ensure all of the above, we have in place dedicated call center staff to address
technical and service related issues of customers. Additionally we would focus
on store level activities to educate the customer while meeting with them
face-to face. In order to reach out to the customers at the right place and at
the right time, we have introduced customer schemes to induce purchase. Another
value add for the customer is that most of these end-to-end mobility solutions
come with a one year replaceable warranty," Pankaj indicated.
Commenting on the growing mobility market and the opportunities therefore,
Pankaj felt that APC's innovative solutions are a big differentiating factor for
the Company which would power, provide and provide its customers a one stop shop
for all their mobile needs. Page(s) 1
