The three-day Baroda IT expo 2007, organized by the Baroda IT
Association (BITA) concluded with good response from participants and users. The
chief guest of honor, GV Kumar, GM of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, inaugurated the
event organized at the Akota stadium ground. Also present at the event was
Subhash Sagar, grandson of reputed Bollywood director Ramanand Sagar.
The highlight of the event was the tremendous response it
generated from the channel as well as end-customers. The association members
claim that BITA 2007 had the highest number of stalls in the history of any IT
exhibition in Vadodara.
“Citizens here have always responded overwhelmingly to our
annual event. This time around, 75% of the stalls were booked within 30 minutes
of opening the booking. For the first time we had 181 stalls in the show,”
informed Amit Shah, President, BITA.
The theme for the ninth BITA event was 'IT for Society'.
Major multinational as well as national giants in the IT field like IBM, Lenovo,
HP-Compaq, Zenith, HCL, Wipro, LG, Samsung etc showcased their latest products
at the event.
There was a reason why this event was held on the Republic day.
Shah said, “We wanted to project patriotism as an integral part of this event.
This is why we have the show on 26th January every year. It is our
way of celebrating the Republic Day and it gels well with our aim to put
Vadodara on the map of India”.
Gayatri Traders who has been regularly participating at the show
was very happy about the response. “We received several inquiries and the
event was great as far as the response of the user is concerned,” said its
proprietor. Aashish Parmar of Ashinik Incorporated added, “There was a good
response right from the first day. It is very encouraging to have this kind of
feedback from the end-customers.”
Ankit Shah, a regular visitor to this event said, “I visit
this exhibition every year and buy peripherals like CDs, USB and mouse pads at
good prices.”
In addition to the regular exposition, there was a blood
donation camp at the venue. “We want to pay homage to martyrs of the nation,
which is why we set up this blood donation camp during the event. Suraktam Blood
Bank provided this facility,” added Shah.
The day before the event, a rally of cars and scooters by all
BITA members and exhibitors was flagged off from Kirti Stumbh and reached Ajit
Nagar Ground via Rajmahal Road, Sayajigunj, R.C. Dutt Road and Old Padra Road.
This was the association members unique way to publicize the event and get more
people to visit it. Page(s) 1
