Reinforcing its commitment to nurturing talent to meet the growing
challenges of the manufacturing, automotive, aerospace and defence segments, PTC,
the product development company, announced the enrichment of its education
initiative in India. The Company is rapidly expanding its education network
beyond the 425 educational institutions in India it currently covers, with a
comprehensive bundling of design software and teaching resources to address the
complete requirements of product lifecycle management.
"With India's emergence as a destination for engineering design and
product development, there is a compelling need for trained manpower that can
leverage best in class solutions for design and collaboration to ensure quicker
time to market. The PTC education program leverages 20 years of experience in
providing the global manufacturing industry with the right product development
technology, and arms students with knowledge that makes them industry ready from
graduation day", said Viswanathan Natarajan, Area VP, PTC.
As part of this initiative, PTC will provide technical and engineering
institutes as well as schools, licenses of Pro/ENGINEER, the company's industry
leading solution for Computer Aided Design, Engineering and Manufacturing. In
addition, faculty training, instructional materials and other resources will
benefit both educators and the student community. PTC will also offer select
institutions its industry leading product lifecycle management solution
Windchill, and enterprise content management solution Arbortext. PTC is also
offering tailor made modules for polytechnic institutes.
Around 2000 teachers and 48,000 students are currently enrolled in
PTC's education initiative in India. With the expansion of the education
initiative, PTC is hoping to get more students involved in "Product Design
Engineering" and not just design engineering.
More than 3 million middle and high school students around the world
have used PTC software in their design and technology studies, and more than
11,000 teachers have been trained to teach with PTC software. More than 75
percent of secondary schools in the United Kingdom use PTC software to teach the
national curriculum in design and technology. PTC also provides its product
development software to more than 1,300 universities around the world.
PTC's software donations to educators worldwide recently won the
company recognition from Business Week magazine as the third most-generous
in-kind giver among American corporations. Page(s) 1
