BANGALORE
JANUARY 3, 2007

Wind River Systems announced that Kontron, suppliers of embedded computer technology, has joined Wind River's partner program as a strategic partner.

This partnership will bundle Wind River's Carrier-Grade Linux with Kontron's next generation of Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA), MicroTCA and Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) platforms, Wind River said in a statement.

The integrated Wind River and Kontron solutions create a complete COTS-based platform built on highly available, standards-based platforms for ATCA. Using COTS hardware and software enables application developers to simplify the overall product development effort and speed time-to-market of next-generation telecommunications equipment solutions.

Venkatesh Kumaran, Country Manager India, Wind River, said, "Both Kontron and Wind River are committed to drive standards for COTS environment for telecom. We look forward to working together to provide our joint customers with fully integrated, standards-based DSO solutions that are cost effective and support a wide range of development environments."

"Integrating Wind River Linux into our next-generation platforms will enable us to offer customers the future-proof, stable and true carrier-grade system solution that only Wind River can help us provide," Tom Meyer, director, Kontron Communications Division.
