MUMBAI
JANUARY 2, 2007

Mumbai-based Allied Digital Services has bagged the security and surveillance contract for Reliance Retail's latest fresh produce venture -- Fresh. As part of this agreement, ADS will provide the installation and integration of security appliances and applications for the chain of Fresh outlets being rolled out.
Reliance Retail, a division of Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Industries, has announced that it will have 5,500 retail outlets in the country, which will sell fresh fruits and vegetables. ADS will be instrumental in the deployment of CCTVs, digital TVs, IP TVs and other security appliances besides integrating these to the backbone IT infrastructure for constant surveillance and monitoring.

These security solutions offer the administrators an observation window to monitor the shop floor and also track staff and customer movement, restrict access and avoid security breaches.

ADS has already done the implementation in the Reliance Fresh outlets in New Delhi and Jaipur and will follow the rollout plan decided by Reliance Industries. "With every implementation, we are learning new things, which helps us with the next leg of integration at the new outlet," said Nitin Shah, Founder, ADS.

The company has also deployed similar solutions for Shoppers Stop, Pantaloons and Globus. It does not rule bidding for Walmart, when it makes it foray into the country.

Continuing its focus on the retail segment, ADS has also developed an end-to-end supply management software for this sector. This solution manages the whole gamut of supply chain issues like inventory management, loyalty programs, need generation, etc. It has already deployed it in 500 outlets of D'Damas
Getting into another business stream, ADS has now started offering asset recovery services to enterprise customers. Working more or less on the renting principle, ADS offers equipments to corporates on an operating lease. "There is a guarantee for the residual value of this equipment and at the end of the stipulated time, ADS takes back the equipment. This is then refurbished and sold in smaller towns at lower rates," informs Nitin Shah, Founder, ADS.
ADS is also setting up a SOC (Security Operation Center) in the city. This is a follow-up to the company's decision to get into the security and surveillance market a year ago, as was reported by DQ Channels.

The SOC will provide 24x7 security surveillance service to a varied segment of clients, including retail, BFSI, ITeS and manufacturing. Setting it up in alliance with Singapore-based E-Cop, Allied claims this will be the country's first center to provide managed security services (MSS) powered by advanced event correlation engine and incident handling technology.

"From our 24x7x365 SOC facilities, security technology will allow organizations to fully leverage our specialized expertise in managing one of the most difficult and complex tasks in info-security today i.e. round-the-clock security risk management, seamless network security monitoring, and real-time response to security threats and violations," says Bimal Raj, CEO of ADS.

Allied's SOC will provide remote monitoring of security solutions deployed at customer's site. These include firewalls, IDS, gateway routers and VPN appliances. This service will include remote log analysis of security devices, monitoring critical alerts and external vulnerability scanning of customer's network.

Besides managed intrusion detection service, the SOC also has a 'Logs Analysis Service' which provides a thorough analysis and account of security logs and audit trails captured by different security devices. "With LAS, decisions on how to respond and resolve a security breach become clearer and more defined for taking corrective measures," Bimal clarifies.
