Apurva Computer Technologies, manufacturer of Smart Station thin clients and
its accessories, is finally taking the distribution way to reach out to more
customers. So far, it was selling through four value-added partners in Gujarat,
Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai.
Apurva Computer Technologies is based at Surendranagar in Gujarat and
manufactures thin clients, LAN cards and access control cards. It has a
manufacturing unit in this city, with a monthly capacity of 3,000 LAN cards, and
50 thin clients.
Till recently, four value added partners sold Apurva's products, including
Apexa Infosys in Ahmedabad, Unique Computers in Mehsana as well as Delta Systems
and Peripherals in Rajkot. So far, the company was limiting its business only in
Gujurat and parts of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. But now it wants to make it
brand name visible to a wider customer base, which is why it is planning on
appointing regional distributors.
Says Manish Dave, Director, Apurva Computer Technologies, “It has taken us
around two years to get our bearings when it came to manufacturing thin clients
and creating a good customer base. Now that we have the system in place we would
like to reach out to more customers.”
Initially, Dave states that his company will concentrate only on regional
distribution. And he is clear that the distributors will not merely act as
stocking agents. They have to be able to offer the first level of support as
well.
“Our products are largely used by educational institutes and the SMB
segment, and these are very concerned about quick support. So we will sign up
with those distributors who can offer some warranty support,” says Manish. All
Smart Station systems are available with a one-year offsite replacement
warranty.
Apurva Computer Technologies has another division, Smart Computer Care, which
is involved in the IT trading and networking business. The company clocked a
turnover of Rs 24 crore in 2005-06 and hopes to touch Rs 30 crore this fiscal.
