Allied Telesyn launches wireless router

MUMBAI
NOVEMBER 22, 2006

Allied Telesyn announced the launch of its new AT-WA1104G SOHO wireless router. Ideally designed to meet the needs of home networks and small offices, the AT-WA1104G allows connections to xDSL, cable modem and fix IP to get Internet access instantly and share the connection among multiple PCs either wired or wirelessly.

The AT-WA1104G supports 802.11g wireless transmission at 54Mbps, which is five times faster than the current 802.11b standard, and it can simultaneously operate on both the 802.11b and 802.11g standards with dynamic channel selection.

With the Wireless Distribution system (WDS) support in AT-WA1104G, network dead spots can be eliminated and long-ranging connectivity can be obtained by adding the products in the area to gain signal strength. Furthermore, WDS allows AT-WA1104G to wirelessly communicate with each other or other WDS-based wireless routers in order to extend the range of a wireless network. The Fast Ethernet WAN port also enables users to select from a range of WAN connections and operates in a range of modes (PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP and direct connection) for additional flexibility.

The network via AT-WA1104G is protected by 128-bit, “Shared Key” Wireless Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encryption, WiFi Protected Access (WPA) and temporary Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP) encryption. This optimally protects data transferred over the air; while state-of-art user authentications are supplied by RADIUS support.

Wireless access to network can be further limited by means of Access Control Lists. Managers can also assign LAN users to different groups and define a set of internet services authorized for use by each group. The AT-WA1104G helps keep intruders out of the networked computers and provides additional comfort of mind that your network will remain highly secured in the future.

“AT-WA1104G is so versatile that small companies can use a single cost-effective device to meet all of their wireless communications needs while driving costs down”, said Jason Phoon, Deputy Director - Product Marketing & Fulfillment (APac), Allied Telesyn.
