NEW DELHI
OCTOBER 11, 2006

Huawei Technologies, next generation telecommunications network solutions provider, announced the launch of the Terabit SmartAX FTTx solution.

With the popularity of broadband access services and the launch of high bandwidth services such as video on demand, Internet games and IPTV, optical fiber access (FTTx) stands out and becomes the trend of fixed access networks.

The Terabit FTTx solution has high bandwidth of the optical fiber. The solution supports GPON and VDSL2 to deliver more flexible services. Based on the 10GE architecture, this solution also supports smooth evolution from GE to 10GE platform. It features excellent scalability, robust IP features and serviceability to fulfill the future multi-services demands of ultra-high bandwidth, and substantially reduce OPEX for the operators, a Huawei statement said.

By the end of April 2006, Huawei's access network has been operating for 100 million subscriber lines around the world. Huawei has been consistently investing in access network applications, and to date it has R&D team of over 1,500 employees focused on this area.
