NEW DELHI
OCTOBER 10, 2006

Oracle beat SAP in the second annual human capital management (HCM) shootout at the HR Technology Conference and Exposition at Chicago last week.

More than 450 human resource executives, professionals and industry leaders rated the live product demonstrations of Oracle and SAP and voted Oracle the overall winner.

“The attendees at our shootouts are experienced HR people who know what they're looking at and voted Oracle the winner in two out of the three problems both companies had to solve,” said Human Resource Executive Technology Columnist and HR Technology Co-Chairman Bill Kutik in a statement. “Oracle clearly demonstrated thought leadership with solutions based on products that address real business challenges.”

During the general session titled, “Clash of the Titans: The Second Annual Oracle & SAP Shootout,” both Oracle and SAP were tasked with demonstrating how their respective HCM offerings help companies solve three typical HR problems written by co-chair Kutik. Leveraging a live demonstration of Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise HCM, Oracle scored ahead of SAP in two out of three segments, winning the Manager Empowerment and Workforce Planning/Talent Management problems. SAP won the problem on Reducing Healthcare Costs by using partner software from VitalSpring Technologies.

“Through continued, innovative product development, we are responding to customer feedback and building meaningful business intelligence capabilities into our HCM applications, equipping companies to make smarter, faster workforce decisions,” said Oracle vice president HCM Product Strategy Gretchen Alarcon, who presented the demonstrations. “We are also dedicated to reducing the time employees spend on day-to-day administration so they can focus on delivering strategic value to the organization. Winning the HR Technology Shootout reinforces our global market leadership and demonstrates that our commitment to thought leadership is paying off.”

Leveraging comprehensive, end-to-end talent management and workforce service delivery capabilities, Oracle HCM Applications enable organizations to address their current complex business challenges while planning for the future. With features such as XML Publisher, template-based transactions and Oracle Business Intelligence, Oracle HCM Applications eliminate disparate business processes and unify enterprise-wide data. As a result, companies are able to drive organizational performance, cultivate learning and promote employee engagement and development.

With its “Applications Unlimited” program, Oracle will continue to enhance and deliver industry-leading releases across its HCM product lines, allowing organizations to realize ongoing benefit from their existing and future investments. Additionally, Oracle is providing more visibility into product roadmaps and delivering world-class support for years to come.
