Many IT companies in Bangalore played safe by declaring a holiday today, on
account of the state-wide bundh call given by pro-Kannada organizations in
Karnataka.
Companies like IBM, Infosys, Intel and Wipro have sent official e-mails to
this effect to their staff. While some companies have told their staff in
Bangalore to work out of home, others would be working this Saturday to
compensate for the loss of work on Wednesday.
However, BPO employees were not as lucky in getting an unscheduled break.
Some spent long hours at work on the premises of safety reasons and also due to
the lack of public transport. The 'Karnataka bundh' has been called by
several Kannada organizations to oppose the Center's stand on the Belgaum
