Computer hard disk drive maker Seagate Technology today announced that its
Chief Operating Officer Dave Wickersham has assumed the additional role of its
President.
According to a Seagate statement, Wickersham, who oversees Seagate's global
product research, design and manufacturing operations, will continue to report
directly to Chief Executive Officer, Bill Watkins. Earlier, Watkins who is also
a director on the company's board held the position of president.
"Under Dave's leadership, our global operations have functioned at the
highest levels this industry and have helped establish Seagate as an elite
technology company at the heart of the on-demand world. Dave understands that
continuous innovation is the hallmark of our success, and he will continue to
play a central role in keeping innovation at the forefront of all aspects of our
business," Watkins said.
A 28-year veteran of the storage and systems industries, Wickersham manages a
complex, vertically integrated, manufacturing enterprise that spans six
countries and three continents. In overseeing Seagate's global operations, he is
responsible for all aspects of product R&D, design and development, along
with materials, logistics, manufacturing and quality, for both components and
finished products.
Wickersham joined Seagate in 1998 as the head of the company's worldwide
materials organization, following many years in management roles at IBM, Exabyte
and Maxtor Corporation. He later served as executive vice president, global disc
storage operations and in 2004 he was named chief operating officer.
Last year, he was appointed to lead the team that is successfully effecting
Seagate's integration of Maxtor.
Wickersham holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from
