The IPv6 Forum India, a non-profit, non-governmental registered organization
and the national chapter of the global IPv6 Forum, today announced that it has
signed a MoU with the China IPv6 Council. The association between the two
chapters will be crucial in enabling knowledge sharing and promoting the
deployment of IPv6 in the two countries.
IPv6 Forum India and China IPv6 Council have a common goal - to promote,
develop and deploy IPv6 technology and industrialization in the world,
especially in China and India. Towards this end, the proposed partnership
activities include:
- Information exchange for the strategies relating to IPv6 promotion,
development and deployment.
- Coordination and support for joint research and trial projects between
India and China, such like standardization, address policing, applications and
so on.
- Promoting governmental cooperation between India and China in the IPv6
industry.
- Sharing know-how and experience for inter-operability testing,
certification and authorization.
- Cooperating in IPv6 promotion events in India, China, and other regions.
“The China IPv6 council has championed the introduction of IPv6 in China
since 2001 and has created cooperation agreements with Japan, Korea and the
European Union. India is the logical next step in the wider deployment of IPv6
in Asia and ASEAN” said Liu Dong, Chairman of China IPv6 Council.
Latif Ladid, President, IPv6 Forum (Worldwide) said, “Teaming up of Chinese
and Indian IPv6 experts for the grand collaboration of deploying IPv6 is a
laudable undertaking and paves the way for these two nations to soon become the
largest Internet nations on the planet”
“China and India are very similar in many regards, especially size of
population, rapidly growing economy and speedy mobile and Internet subscriber
growth. This cooperation is hence crucial in enabling knowledge sharing and
working together for the increased deployment of IPv6,” opines Jayachandra K,
President, IPv6 Forum India. “China has already led by example, deploying
China Next Generation Internet (CNGI) which is one of the world's largest
native IPv6 production networks. We in India hope to learn from their
experience.”
China's Next Generation Internet (CNGI) is the centerpiece of China's
plan to steal leadership away from the United States in all things related to
the Internet and Information technology. It is working on ways to use IPv6 to
enhance its control over Internet traffic in and out of the country. China plans
to use CNGI from broadcasting the events to controlling the Olympic facilities
at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
