EMC Corporation announced that Sanjay Mirchandani has joined EMC in the newly created role of Senior VP

EMC Corporation announced that Sanjay Mirchandani has joined EMC in the newly created role of Senior VP-Emerging Markets and International Development. Mirchandani, an 11-year veteran of Microsoft with substantial experience in developing global markets, will help EMC accelerate its ability to reach customers in emerging markets around the world and advance the company's overall globalization efforts.

Working closely with EMC's global executive team, Mirchandani will focus on developing new approaches for product and go-to-market strategy, localization and global release, and strategies for the company to continue to expand its share of the available market for information management and storage solutions in emerging growth markets. Operational responsibility for driving revenues and day-to-day management of sales and services will remain with EMC's geographic theater leads. Based in Singapore, Mirchandani will report to David Goulden, EMC's Executive Vice President of Customer Operations.

“EMC's growth opportunities are especially strong in international markets,” said Goulden. “We have been making significant progress in stepping up our investments and establishing new operations to expand our customer and partner base. We are thrilled to welcome an executive with Sanjay's deep international experience as we extend EMC's best-of-breed portfolio of information infrastructure solutions to reach more and more customers around the globe.”

At Microsoft, Mirchandani held a variety of senior management roles in Asia, serving most recently as the Regional Vice President, Enterprise Services for the Asia Region. Prior to that, he was the Regional Vice President, Microsoft Asia Pacific Region, overseeing its businesses in Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Korea and India. Earlier in his career, Mirchandani served as Managing Director of Microsoft India, and successfully developed Microsoft's presence and profile in the country. Mirchandani began his career at Microsoft leading the Consulting practice in the Middle East region.
