Keeping in mind the growing potential of digital audio segment for India, global semiconductor focused company ST Microelectronics is gearing up to provide its set of digital audio solutions within the region for IT manufacturing companies having their base in India. The company is targeting its bluetooth wireless audio solutions for IT manufacturing organizations engaged in production of products like, high-end home theatres, mobile headsets, high-end radio and other personal devices.

“Whether it is mobile manufacturing for global players like Nokia, Samsung or other IT devices, the whole gamut of electronic devices being manufactured in India, is increasing day by day. This is creating a wonderful situation for us as a company to sell our global solutions to local as well as MNC manufacturing companies over here. We have different audio solutions for different segments from 0.5 watts to 180 watts range,” informed, Pradeep Kumar, VP–EMR and Director SAARC, ST Microelectronics.

Whether it is a telecom major like Nokia or electronics focused company like Samsung, most of the sourcing was being done outside India. However with the government of India encouraging IT usage within the region, there is a need for big and small IT companies to provide that 'India touch' for their manufacturing capabilities.

“Every geography is different and the needs are different too. Today, companies need to cater to the local needs and it is a big issue in India. According to our estimates, the overall size of this market would be between $40 million to $50 million and this is a growing market. We believe that our digital audio solutions will help IT manufacturing companies deliver that added local touch with our globally trusted quality to their end customers,” he added.

As India Inc moves towards establishing its prowess when it comes to IT manufacturing, the growing digital consumerism in the region is pushing a lot of global and regional IT companies to India's turf. As companies like ST Microelectronics start focusing towards India for their set of global solutions, the overall IT ecosystem will get more feasible towards IT manufacturing.
