SonicWALL, a provider of Unified Threat Management solutions, is firming up its commitment for the Indian market. It is bringing two new products--e-mail security solution and continuous data protection -- to the Indian market, parallel to the global launch.

“India is the fastest growing market for SonicWALL and offers incredible opportunities. The country's vast SMB base and rapidly growing Internet users pave good growth path for the company. We are very committed to the Indian market,” said John DiLullo, VP-Worldwide Sales, SonicWALL Inc.

The company, over the last year, has increased its presence considerably in the local market. Appointing country manager in August 2005 and subsequently opening an office here, it has taken up several initiatives to strengthen its presence here.

“In a short-period of time, we grew to become one of the leading players in UTM space here. We are 100 percent channel-oriented company and resellers play a big role in taking our products to the market. In the last six months, we have increased our value-added resellers (Medallion Partners) base from 24 to 74, and the number is likely to go further up. We are well-established in the A-class cities (metros) and now, the focus is only on B and C markets,” said Shubhomoy Biswas, Country Manager (India & SAARC), SonicWALL Inc.

Baroda, Jodhpur, Cochin, Trivandrum, Mangalore, Mysore, Agartala and Shillong are some of the places where it wants to increase its presence through channel partners. The company distributes its products through two national distributors-IT Secure and Select Technologies. “Soon, Delhi-based Taarak will be our third distributor and focus only on the newly launching e-mail security solution. Taarak was the national distributor for our recently acquired MailFrontier, through which we are entering into the e-mail security solutions space,” informed Biswas.

India is seen as a key market for the new products too and according to DiLullo, “The fast-growing broadband market and SMB reliance on Internet for business transactions are the driving factors for security solution growth in the country. SSL VPN and IDS/IPS are outpacing IPSec VPN and firewall growth.”

SonicWALL offers wide range of security solutions and services including UTM, secure remote access, policy management, SSL-VPN and IPSec VPN (content filtering services), besides the newly launching email security and continuous data protection solution.

With off shoring and BPO wave sweeping across the country, SonicWALL hopes to continue with its growth momentum here and keep India at a respectable position in the worldwide sales. “SonicWALL will become #1 security vendor in India, in the next three years,” added Biswas.
