Israel

Israel-based Ericom Software has joined hands with Mumbai-based distributor Priya Ltd to strengthen its presence in the India market through the formation of a joint venture (JV) company called Ericom India. Ericom's relation with Priya is a long-standing one with the latter distributing its products in India for the last five years. The current JV further strengthens this relation.

Unlike any other joint ventures, which proudly announce the equity, sharing between the two companies, both Priya and Ericom has refused to disclose the details of the JV. Earlier, Priya had informed that the details would be worked out within two days. However, despite a month has passed, the distributor is unwilling to share any details.

Established in 1993, Ericom Software is a leading provider of enterprise-wide application access solutions. Looking at the current pace of development and the overall economic growth in the IT space of India, Muli Ravina, President and COO said, "It was a natural movement for Ericom to enter the country."

He went on to highlight that "The growth pace is China is also very good, but India is a more suitable market for us. The business culture in India is very conducive, as most of them understand English. Besides, English is the primary language used in building software," he added. According to the company, Ericom has been helping users access enterprise mission-critical applications. More than a decade later, Ericom maintains its focus on the same core business, while adapting to new technologies enabling access to applications running on a wide range of enterprise-wide computing resources. These include MS Windows Terminal Servers, legacy systems, and others.

Ericom India will be an independent separate operation with Aditya Bhuwania and Moshe Reeche at the helm of the affairs. The company has an ambition plan for the India operation with dedicated sales and support facilities. "India is an excellent place for development related activities, and hence, eventually we would look at migrating part of the research and development activities to India," said Ravina.

Explaining the channel strategy, Ravina explained that Ericom has grown across the world only because of its strong channel policies. "To give high level of comfort we have been giving excellent channel protection program to our channel partners, SI training, technical updates and hands-on support by way of proof-of-concept center," he added.

According to Bhuwania the new company is in the process of appointing few key channel partners. "We would be working closely with solution providers and SIs while targeting the end customers for business," added Bhuwania.
