Apical Impex

Apical Impex, a new distribution outfit based in Mumbai, has tied up with three USA-based companies to start its operations. Apical is promoted by Tejas Sheth, Director of Asia Powercom, which specializes in UPS, AVRs and surge protectors. While Tejas is in the forefront of Apical, Tejas's wife - Sheetal looks after all other activities of the company.

The three companies that Apical has signed distributions partnerships are RoadWired, Pacific Design and Vantec.

RoadWired is a division of New York-based Three Point Ventures, specialized in designing exquisite cases and accessories for all the high-tech equipment one would ever care to carry. It makes computer bags and carrying cases for portable computers, Palm, PDA, CD, MP3, cameras, cell phones, camcorders, GPS, projectors and other mobile electronics.

Pacific Design, a privately held firm, is a certified Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) headquarted in Austin, Texas. The company specializes in design and manufacture of intelligent, high quality cases for all types of mobile technology products, including carrying cases for laptop and notebook computers, PDAs and pen tablets.

Vantec, founded in 1994, is devoted to manufacturing and developing total PC solutions for every computer user, from mainstream to enthusiast. It produces some of the best thermal solutions available in the market. It makes USB 2.0 external casing, EZ-Swap SATA and IDE mobile rack, and ION2 ultra quite power supply unit.

"We founded Apical Impex to promote niche market products," said Tejas. According to him, there are no immediate plans to any more products, however in the future it may be considered.

To add on to its current product portfolio, Apical recently introduced Vantec Avox Juke box - which is a MP3 player-cum-video player-cum-storage device.

According to Tejas Sheth, the Avox Jukebox is the easiest way to turn your 2.5” notebook hard drive into a home theater and storage solution. "With a simple to user interface Avox Jukebox can play movies, music or slide show of your pictures when connected to AV inputs connected on any television," he added.

The Avox Jukebox has On-The-Go (OTG) function, which can be used to backup files directly from any digital still cameras, card readers, pen drives without requiring any desktop PC or laptop.
