F5 Networks launched its new product called F5 WANjet and Web Accelerator in India last month

F5 Networks launched its new product called F5 WANjet and Web Accelerator in India last month. It will distribute the product across all markets through its existing channel partners. Irrespective of whether it is a metro or a tier two city, the channel strategy would involve system integrators (SI) and distributors for product delivery. F5 would also provide its partners hands-on training as regards the deployment of the product.

Outlining the features of the new product, Shailendra Sahasrabudhe, Country Manager-India, F5 Networks said,” WANjet is an appliance-based solution that delivers LAN-like application performance across Wan networks. It accelerates file transfer, email, client server applications and data replication. This results in predicate, fast performance across all WAN users. The biggest benefit that WANjet offers customers is that it enables to optimize their spending on costly Wan links.”

TDR or Transparent data reduction, which is the main feature of WANjet, helps minimize transmission of repetitive data across various networks in an organization, thereby reducing the bandwidth used. WANjet also ensures a seamless integration across any form of network and upgradation can be done remotely online.

WANjet would be available in two models, the WANjet 200 and WANjet 400, both highly scalable. The price of the product would vary between $2,000 up to $1,00,000, depending on the bandwidth to be optimized. WANjet is suitable for any organization be it large enterprise or an SMB sector that typically has a main office connected to its branches through a lease line, VSAT, IPLC or VPN.

Typically banks, corporates, telcos, call centers and software companies would stand to benefit by using WANjet. F5 will target WANjet at its home captive customers and look to focus on its core strengths of application delivery. The price of deployment would be customized as per user requirement.

The product itself is at a testing stage with many customers wanting to deploy it after carefully observing its way of working. “With companies spending heavily on connectivity, between their branch offices, products like WANjet that optimize data traffic flow would be always on demand, said Shailendra, while adding that its capability of being able to optimize WAN links, the product promises a maximum ROI for customers, ensures secure data transmission giving it added advantages over existing competition.
