GajShield Infotech

GajShield Infotech, an Indian company providing integrated security solutions, will soon introduce a unique USB-based mini firewall. The device, which will look like a thumb drive, will have all the required functionalities of a typical firewall. The tiny firewall is enabled on individual PCs just by plugging it in to the USB port. Once the device is configured to a PC, it will not allow the PC to start without it, thus enforcing mandatory use of the device.

"As of now I don't think such a product exists in the market. It is very likely that other security vendors might develop something similar, but we will try our best launch this product in the market first," said Sonit Jain, CEO, GajShield Infotech.

In the current stage of development, the product has not yet reached the performance level of software based-firewalls, but the company hopes to match this performance by the time of the actual product is launched. The company is hoping to launch the device in the next four months.

Meanwhile, GajShield announced that it has received Firewall Certification in the Corporate Category criteria 4.1 from International Computer Security Association-ICSA Labs, a division of Cybertrust-USA for its software-based GajShield SecureGate Firewall.

According to the company, GajShield is the first Indian company and the tenth company world over to achieve this certification in the corporate criteria 4.1. It will leverage on this certification and is planning to introduce its product range in South East Asia, South Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and a few other European countries.

Being a channel driven company, GajShield will also expand its channel network with about six to seven resellers in each region across India and one or two resellers in each region outside India.

The company currently follows a regional distribution model wherein some of them are implementation partners and the rest are pure resellers. However, in the next quarter, the company is also looking at working out a national distribution model. The company has not identified any national distributor for this purpose, but will be doing so very soon.

Apart from the firewall, the company also develops other integrated security firewall products with focus on removing complexity and reducing cost of implementing and managing.
