IBM India announced that it is fast outpacing the external storage market in India. Referring to IDC Asia/Pacific Quarterly Storage Tracker, 3Q 2005, November 2005, the vendor said it recorded the highest revenue growth in external storage market revenues with a 10.6-point market share gain YOY (3Q 2005 over 3Q 2004). 

“With a phenomenal growth of 182% YOY in customer revenues, IBM outpaced the overall external storage market growth of 48% in India (3Q 2005 over 3Q 2004). IBM India has been experiencing strong growth in the external storage space in the last one year, moving up from fifth position at the end of 2004 to second position in 3Q 2005 in terms of customer revenues, which is barely 3 points behind the current market leader,” the company said in statement.

The total size of the external storage market in India was pegged at about $ 44.98 million in 3Q 2005, as per the IDC Asia/Pacific Quarterly Storage Tracker, 3Q 2005, November 2005.
