With an aim of reaching more effectively to non-metro customers, storage vendor IBM has initiated the concept of 'Server Bazaars'. This training-cum-knowledge dissemination program is meant for prospective customers as well as channel partners and has been rolled out across 25 cities as part of its worldwide training initiative.
Through 'Server Bazaars', IBM hopes to establish its brand equity among B- and C-class town SMB customers who are fast emerging as propellers of the economy. Talking about the rationale behind systematizing server bazaars, Alok Ohrie, VP-Systems Technology Group said, “The whole purpose of arranging server bazaars is to take our budget offerings to our targeted customer base which comprises of mid to small sized entrepreneurial businesses. With the threshold price point of entry level server touching as low as five lakh mark coupled with various finance schemes, we are extremely bullish on taking our server and storage offerings to cost conscious customers even.”
He added, “Apart from instilling a direct interface with customers 'Server Bazaars' are meant give our partners a great opportunity to move up the value chain. By attending the two-day comprehensive training schedule on IBM's entire server and storage portfolio they can elevate themselves from playing in the margin-less PC and components market space to a high value, high margin sever space.”
On successful completion of training, partners have to pass the examination, following which they are awarded the IBM certified professional certificate. These certified professionals get an opportunity to receive regular in-depth trainings and knowledge gain from the vendor, which makes them trusted partners in the competitive market place.

Apart from existing server partners, other non-IBM partners can also enroll for the training program, as long as they adhere to certain terms and condition. The cities covered by this event are Lucknow, Kanpur, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Guwahati, Bhubaneshwar, Sangli, Surat, Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Vizag, Madurai and Cochin.
