Imation looking to cement Indian channel strategy

It has already appointed 20 regional distributors and wants to induct partners who can add value to its set of solutions

Wednesday, October 19, 2005

Citing India as one of the fastest growing markets in the world, US-based Imation Corporation, a provider of removable data storage media for PCs, servers and other devices, is all set to strengthen its Indian channel strategy.

The company has already appointed Cyberstar India to distribute its USB micro hard drive and a new range of flash drives. It is also adopting a regional approach while appointing channel partners for its Indian operations.

“India is a huge market for us and we want to realize the full potential of this market. In order to tap the regional market of India, we have a strategy to partner with regional distributors. So far we are working closely with 20 such partners spread all across the country,” explained Peter Campbell, Regional Director, India & Emerging Markets, Imation.

Operating in the data storage space, Imation is looking forward to adding new partners who are capable of adding value to deliver storage solutions in the Indian region. “This is the time when we are looking up for adding reach and capability to our channel network. We are looking for players who can add value with the help of our products while delivering storage solutions,” he added.

After having announced setting up its fully-owned Indian subsidiary, the company is showing lots of optimism about the growing storage needs of the Indian region and is planning to open a technical centre in the next 24 months in the country. “As we entrench ourselves firmly in this market, it would be obvious for us to consider opening a technical center here. We are looking at a timeframe of 24 months from now. Once up and running this center would certainly give us a big edge in terms of satisfying our customers and gain market share as well,” Peter added.
