With an aim of differentiating itself from the rest of competition in the region, US-based global manufacturer of electronic cables Belden CDT Inc is all set to introduce cutting edge technology based products in the Indian region. “We are going to leverage our global technological leadership while introducing new products in this part of the world. We already have a healthy market share when it comes to datacom cables. Riding on technology as an enabler to innovate, we are planning to increase our current revenue or Rs 22 crore by about 60% for next year,” informed, Ashish Chand, Country Manager, India & Regional Manager, SAARC, Belden CDT Inc.
Keeping its focus on technological innovation, the company is in the process of introducing a new concept of fire-proof cabling in the Indian region. “We have associated ourselves with DuPont to introduce this new concept of fire-proof cabling. Under this association, DuPont would provide the oil resistant compound, which would be coated on our cables. We have already done some trial runs with our customers – Fidelity and Agere Systems in India and would soon be launching this product in the market,” he explained.
With a number of fire cases happening at big IT multiplexes in different IT hubs of the country, a product like this would be seen as a big plus by different system integrators and solution providers while implementing the cabling part. “As we work closely with the solution provider community, a lot of them have shown their interest and appreciation for this product,” Ashish added.
Engaging itself firmly with the partner community – the company is planning to increase its presence in the Indian region as well as start new educative seminar series in order to impart technological education to its partner community.
“We work with a model where we penetrate in the market with the help of our partners. At present, we are present in Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad. We are planning to have our presence in eight cities within India by the end of this year.
The company has a channel model where it has four distributors in – Noida-based Cosmotec Communication, Mumbai-based Online Networks Systems, Mumbai-based MDC and Bangalore-based Interface Connectronics. This aside, the company is working closely with 16 installation partners as well.
“Ideally we work with four installation partners in each of the cities that we are present. These are the solution providers or system integrators. Moving forward we would introduce different variants for our line of datacom products in the Indian market. Coming months would also see us launch products like Power Over Ethernet products. These products would help the solution providers or system integrators to deliver more value to their customers,” he added.
Based in the US, Belden manufactures high-speed electronic cables. It focuses on products for the specialty electronics and data networking markets, including connectivity.
