Symantec Corporation announced the launch of Norton AntiVirus 2007 and Norton Internet Security 2007, industry-leading security applications that have been enhanced to help users stay ahead of today's evolving online threats.

Norton AntiVirus 2007 give consumers advanced protection against viruses, spyware and related risks. Norton Internet Security 2007 is a security suite that leverages the antivirus and antispyware protection of Norton AntiVirus plus provides safeguards against the latest online dangers by providing sophisticated new phishing protection, an enhanced firewall, and defense against software vulnerabilities. “Over the past year, the Internet threat landscape has taken a dramatic turn. Large, widespread virus outbreaks are being replaced by groups of higher frequency, low-visibility attacks aimed at financial gain rather than notoriety. In addition, security vulnerabilities in operating systems and applications are being discovered and exploited more rapidly than ever,” said David Hall, Regional Consumer Product Marketing Manager, Symantec Corporation. “As the recognized leader in consumer security, Symantec is committed to delivering proven products that help users stay ahead of this changing landscape. With the release of Norton AntiVirus 2007 and Norton Internet Security 2007, we are providing consumers world-class protection that automatically identifies and neutralizes online threats as soon as they attempt to attack a user's computer-without requiring the user to make complicated decisions about their security,” he added.

Part of the changing threat landscape is the fact that virus writers are rapidly creating variations of existing malicious code rather than developing entirely new threats. Norton AntiVirus 2007 addresses this growing trend by delivering potent new technology that blocks attacks from entire worm and virus families without requiring individual signatures for each new threat. The suggested retail price of Norton AntiVirus 2007 is Rs 1,899 (includes one-year subscription to Symantec's protection updates). The suggested retail price for Norton Internet Security 2007 is Rs 2,899 (includes one-year subscription to Symantec's protection updates). Current users of Symantec products (online users) may upgrade to Norton AntiVirus 2007 or Norton Internet Security 2007 for an estimated retail price of Rs 1,899 and Rs 2,305 respectively.
