Surat floods wrecks havoc with IT business

Surat city has been submerged for more than a fortnight now and the situation continues to remain grim. While the rains have stopped and the water has started receding the IT community is in shock as they take stock of the massive losses that have been incurred due to the deluge.

As the main city roads are narrow and now covered with silt and mud the city corporation has banned four wheelers and three wheelers from running on roads in the afternoon to enable faster clearing of roads.

With the roads flooded or jammed because of silting, business has come to a grinding halt in the township. Throwing light on the situation that channel partners are facing Kamal Agarwal of Ria Computers said, “No business has been conducted since all the shops and commercial establishments have been closed since the last fifteen days. First week it was because of floods and second week because of the clean up operations that are underway to clear the roads.”
