California-based Blue Coat Systems, which secures Web communications and accelerates business applications across the distributed enterprise, is all set to expand its India presence. Represented in India by Virtual NetComm as its value added distributor, Blue Coat is planning to further expand its channel presence across India this year.

“We would continue to build on our two tier channel model in India and add some partners to it. Currently we have signed up seven partners across various locations in the country and we are hoping to build that number into 15 or 20 by the year-end,” said Alagu Periyannan, CTO, Blue Coat.

These partners, most of them focused on security solutions, would be present across both the metros as well as non-metro cities in India. Continuing to provide solutions across customer verticals, Blue Coat would focus on the BFSI, pharma, healthcare, manufacturing, government and defense sectors in India, said Periyannan while indicating that BPOs would be a major focus area for Blue Coat in India.

Commenting on their association with Blue Coat, Rajendra Shah, Director & Group CEO, Virtual Netcomm, said, “Being a value added distributor of Blue Coat in India, we provide solutions built around Blue Coat via regional and country solutions partners and systems integrators. We are currently looking to increase focus on distribution and want to build on our partner base and reach out to our customers more effectively. We would also strengthen our sales and support operations in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Bangalore in India. Our local RMA demo/spares/chassis are already stocked locally for Blue Coat/ SANRAD appliances and customers can reach us with their requirements at anytime.”
Indicating that the 'proxy' market provides an immense growth opportunity for players like Blue Coat, Periyannan indicated that in addition to building on partnerships, the company would focus on customer education as regards the various solutions available in this space for the next three-sex months.
