ACS Technologies restructures business, to focus on service

Saturday, May 06, 2006

Secunderabad-based ACS Technologies, a leading third-party service provider, has recently restructured its business. The company, which is a key service partner for Dell in India (through Unisys), is now increasing its focus on facility management services. Recently, it had headhunted Amarnath Rao, who worked with Tata Elxsi as GM, Customer Support. Rao joined ACS Technologies as its CEO and will spearhead the expansion plans.

AMARNATH RAO: Targeting software companies and large installations with FMS

Talking about the road ahead, Rao said, "ACS Technologies' core strength is service and we want to capitalize on that. We are planning to get into facility management services (FMS) in a big way. We are targeting only software companies and large installations initially."

The company is also looking at doubling its business from present Rs 5 crore to Rs 10 crore within the next one year. To achieve this, it is expanding its business in developing markets like Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkand, Bihar and West Bengal. "It was a conscious decision by us to not to get into leading metros such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai. It is already a developed market and the competition is very high.

On the other hand, markets such as Bhubaneswar, Bhopal and Kolkata are opening up and offering huge opportunity. While ACS would set up shops in few places, it would appoint only resident engineers in other areas based on the market potential. We would grow with the market," he elaborated. The company already has a branch in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada.

ACS Tech is also working on chip-level service and is looking to strike a deal with HP, IBM or Acer.
