Homegrown networking hardware provider MRO-TEK plans to
extend its family of network access products by launching two more products.
These include last mile carrier products brand-named 'e-CAT', which
integrates Time division multiplex (TDM) and Ethernet on the same fiber, and 'CUPEY',
a box that carries TDM and Ethernet on Copper.
The company's Marketing VP, Ramakrishnan CS informed that
the products, which are in the beta stage, have found favor with some customers
including a South American telecom carrier. He also said that the company's
existing products-media converter and bandwidth manager e-SONA 100 have gained
good market traction. These products are manufactured at the company's own
facility located at Electronics City in Bangalore.
The company has appointed 20 channel partners across the
country including Datalink, eCaps, Convergent Communications and Nirmal Datacom
to tap the enterprise market in the country. MRO-TEK has achieved customer wins
in countries like Japan, Korea and Malaysia.
"We have seen good installations with ISPs like Hathway
and others adopting e-SONA 100. Our product is popular since it costs just
one-tenth the price of a similar appliance from a company like Packeteer.
Besides, our product installation does not require any change
in configuration or tweaking of other boxes in the network, "said
Ramakrishnan. The company hopes to popularize its products abroad and recently
tied up with channels in Europe.
