HP has named Mark Hurd to serve as the company's CEO and President. He served as President and CEO of NCR Corp since March 2003, where he spent his 25-year career in a range of general management, operations and sales and marketing positions. Previously, Mark served for three years as President and COO of the company's Teradata division, which he built, to be a global leader in enterprise data warehousing, analytic applications and data warehousing services.

Possessing strong executive and personal qualities to lead a complex organization

HP's Non-executive Chairman, Patricia Dunn said that the board unanimously selected Mark based on his track record of leading a complex organization. He also has strong executive and personal qualities.

He will take up his duties on April 1, 2005 and join the board. The new CEO succeeds Robert Wayman, a 36-year company veteran who has been CFO since 1984.
