Bangalore-based hardware manufacturer Sparr Electronics will shortly be producing RFID readers, designed and manufactured indigenously. The company, however, is looking at making this different from the many conventional readers. "We are working on RFID readers which would be Ethernet-enabled. This would make them completely portable across the network," informs Mohandas U, Director, Sparr Electronics.

He feels that with the momentum building around RFID technologies, there would be an increasing demand for readers as well. "Compared to many other MNC products, ours would be much more cost-effective and hence would be able to attract customer attention," remarks Mohandas.

Sparr is also in talks with a US-based company (name withheld on request) to offer WLAN network solutions, wherein Ethernet cables are not required at all starting from the node to corporate LAN. "If the company is able to offer these products in a cost-effective manner, we would like to distribute the same in India," adds Mohandas.

Currently the company is also looking at increasing its partner base for products like Device Servers, serial-to-LAN converters, among other data communication products.
