Luminous Electronics Ltd has launched three new online UPS - 1 KVA, 2 KVA and 3 KVA, which come under the Platinum series. These UPS are being launched keeping in mind the necessity of the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and also the company's endeavor to make a mark in the government sector. The 1 KVA UPS is priced at Rs 22,000, followed by Rs 29,000 for the 2 KVA one and Rs 39,000 for the 3 KVA.

Says Sunil Bhalla, Director, Luminous Electronic, "We have already appointed 20 specialized partners who have got expertise in dealing with the government sector and the SMEs. By the end of this year, we are planning to add another 70 partners, who will be dedicated in promoting the sales of this Platinum series of UPS."

Luminous recorded Rs 150 crore revenue in 2003-04, of which Rs 40 crore came from the UPS business. It exect the UPS revenue to grow by 43% this fiscal. The company is also planning to do some road shows to promote the concept of online UPS in the country. 

"The concept of online UPS is still in a nascent stage. So, we are training our partners to make them understand the concept methodically and cater to the target audience for whom we have launched this series," Sunil adds. Sunil also pointed out the fact that Luminous is rather strong in Northern, Eastern and Western India. So in the next six months, the company plans to focus of the Southern part and will be appointing some new partners who have prior expertise in this business. "South is our weak link and we have chalked out plans to expand our reach here," informs Sunil.
