TVS Electronics has launched four models of upgraded version of dot matrix printers
(DMPs) and one UPS in the country. The Champion series of printers are priced between Rs 8,000 and Rs 13,000 and the UPS is priced at Rs
3,000.
Says NV Mahadevan, Product Manager-Printers, "All these four models of DMPs
are upgraded versions of our earlier Champion series and we are launching them with added features and value-added performance capability. Last
fiscal, the DMP market grew at 23% and we achieved 43% growth in this segment. This fiscal, we hope of repeating this same feat
which would ensure that we remain the leaders in the dot matrix category."
The company will be opening 24 more branches in the country in addition to its 12 existing ones. It will also extend its reach to 400 cities from
its present strength of 300. "We feel that the upcountry market is growing at a brisk pace and we want to be present in each and very location in the
country. This whole expansion procedure will be complete by the end of this
fiscal," Mahadevan adds.
R Sudam, Head, Power Products Unit says that TVSE has been rather absent from the UPS market last fiscal and attributes this to the company's
decision to spend some time studying the facts about what is it that the customers are looking at in today's scenario. "After six months of
study we found out that customers needed some added features to the UPS because
of the growing technology changes. Thus, we have now come up with Start UPS Classic Plus 600, which offers two years
warranty and features some of the best technology. We are hoping that this product will bring us back to
the 11% share that we enjoyed in the UPS market in 2002," Sudam points out.
The company is also planning to launch an 800 series and a 1,000 series of
UPS in next one month's time frame. TVSE is also planning a road show in the country where it will cover 60
cities and the roll out of this is expected to be in the next 45 days.
"Last year we covered 23 cities in the road show and this year we would be covering 60 cities in couple of phases which would ensure more brand
equity for the company," Mahadevan sums up.
