McAfee the leading provider of intrusion prevention solutions, announced that NTT DoCoMo, Inc., the leading mobile communications operator in Japan, will provide consumers with McAfee VirusScan Content Scanning technology, jointly developed with NTT DoCoMo, as a built-in service on the new FOMA 901i series 3G mobile phones.

The built-in McAfee VirusScan technology in the FOMA mobile phones is a market-first in the mobile device arena, designed to provide protection against future mobile threats.

"The recent discovery of worms like 'Cabir' demonstrate the need for security solutions specifically designed to protect consumers from harmful mobile viruses," said Victor Kouznetsov, senior vice president of McAfee Mobile Solutions. "McAfee's continuing partnership with NTT DoCoMo allows us to leverage our joint strengths to develop solutions for mobile handsets, while also validating our goal to protect all consumers both PC and wireless users from security threats."

"NTT DoCoMo's mobile phones have been safe and secure. Nevertheless, since January 2002, NTT DoCoMo and McAfee have engaged in the development activity with the understanding that security will become increasingly important."
