Further building the Company's strength in Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutions, BakBone Software, a global provider of data protection software, announced that NetVault's high performance NDMP data protection software is certified by BakBone to support the Sun StorEdge 5210 NAS device.

BakBone also announced today that NetVault has successfully completed testing as part of the Sun iForce Partner Program, which delivers proven solutions that provide enhanced data availability while reducing cost and time to market for Sun customers and partners.

This announcement marks the first phase in an ongoing collaboration between the two companies. With technological cooperation ranging from storage solutions for Sun's Opteron-based server line with support for Solaris X86 and application level support for Oracle 10g, SAP R3, DB2 and MySQL, BakBone provides seamless and heterogeneous data protection for networks deploying Sun architecture.

"Small businesses are continually looking for affordable ways to improve the protection of their valuable data assets while simplifying storage management," said Ashish Gupta, Country Manager, India, BakBone Software. "The combination of BakBone's NetVault software and the Sun StorEdge 5210 NAS device enables them to do just that - enhance backup performance and data availability with NetVault while leveraging existing storage investments with Sun's heterogeneous file server."

"With the launch of the SE5210 NAS device, Sun continues to build on its commitment to bringing customers end-to-end network storage solutions that reduce cost and complexity and simplify users' IT environments," said Tim Palowski, GM, network storage group, Sun. He added taht solution providers such as BakBone continue to support Sun's NAS offerings helping to deliver solutions that protect customers' data.
