LOCUZ ENTERPRISE SOLUTIONS: Providing Business Centric Solutions

Getting into enterprise solutions is the best decision that Hyderabad-based Uttam Majumdar believes he has taken.

When Hyderabad’s Uttam Majumdar decided that enterprise solutions was the space to get into, four years ago, few of his peers thought he would survive.

But Locuz Enterprise Solutions proved them wrong, but not surviving, but also flourishing. All this, because Uttam had a clear focus. "Our customers are and will be companies that are globally competitive or have to compete against global companies,"
he says.

This concentrated approach has given the Locuz the distinction of being the largest tier-two Cisco partner in Southern India and Sun’s largest tier-two partner in the country.

STRATEGIZING THE RIGHT GAMEPLAN
After a brief stint at Silicon Systems, Majumdar started Locuz in 2002 as a one-man show with minimal investments, but a good deal of ambition.

Not just telling clients what to do, but telling them what not to do

Soon he opened offices in Bangalore and Mumbai, focusing on services in specialized areas and building domain knowledge.

From a revenue of Rs 3 crore in its first year of operation, the company crossed Rs 12 crore in the last fiscal and boasts of a
base of 70 clients in diverse areas like banking, pharma, research, software, BPO and bio-informatics.

As business expanded, Uttam organized the company into five division—education and research, manufacturing, retail, media and entertainment and BFSI. Each of these segments are headed by a strategic account manger reporting to a corporate resource head who is a domain expert.

"Though the work-flow structure gets a little complex and retaining human resource is a continuous challenge, our people believe in our vision," says Uttam.

IT-CENTRIC SOLUTIONS
Uttam realized that solutions are fast becoming business-centric. Companies are gearing up to meet global standards in their respective industries and certifications are gaining importance.

"We focus on how not to commit expensive mistakes in terms of the business of our customers, which is our key differentiator.
We don’t just tell clients what to do, we tell them what not to do," he quips.

According to Uttam’s projections, FY05 will see revenues in excess of Rs 25 crore and Locuz will train it eyes on Web-based enterprise management.
